Sunday and on
It’s a Sunday evening. Room dark. The usual Facebook and TikTok action on my wife’s phone. Cambodian people love their Facebook. When we first met she was sure I had such an account. I had deleted it years before. Most people here do have such things. I get secondary exposure to the social media often. Sometimes in more crowded coffee shops or pubs the competing drone of Facebook and TikTok seems to drown out and maybe replace normal conversation.
It doesn’t matter for me. I got no Facebook and I am not a good conversationalist. TikTok is even more annoying here since people will rewatch the same thing over and again.
My phone is quiet. I don’t have much that produces noise besides watching a history or other YouTube. Notifications don’t. Beeps and bongs never work. After 10pm it’s dnd time until 6am.
It’s Sunday so that means tomorrow or Tuesday I will get my new retirement visa. Another year to be legal here. It’s not like Cambodian immigration does checks. We have no 90 day check-ins either. Cambodia just leaves us alone except for this one time of year for everyone when they get new visa extensions.
Tomorrow being Monday will be yet another coffee day out and a walk. Weather has been delightful here lately. Cool evenings and warmer days. Sometimes a hint of rain but just as often clouds move in and then leave. Not a real rain but sometimes misting or drizzle. To me, very nice for walking.
I’ll likely watch write some tomorrow thoughts then. So I will let this go and see where the sentences lead.
To Monday
This morning means coffee at the house first. Then when I like going it’s my most favorite time. The morning walk and coffee. I kinda know this morning I want just down the street. To have a place I love for coffee and watching our neighborhood in Cambodia do its morning things is nice.
I never feel there’s some rush. There’s nothing needs doing so I should do nothing well. After a decade just about in Asia and a year in Mexico I’ve pretty much learned that doing nothing is a skill. One YouTuber remarked being retired means waking up in the morning with no idea what he will do. I’m better than that. I know I what I will do. Nothing. And I have no desire for real change. The only exception is the bus ride to Kampot. Then I must do a flurry of activities. That will exhaust me. But I will end up in hours in a city I will go explore again. I think it’s really doing nothing somewhere else.
Now coffee. Next walking. Beautiful days now.
